You know how difficult it is to get your ex back whatever the circumstances. It takes a lot of bridge building and a few bridges have to be repaired along the way too ! If you did the dumping, for whatever reason, then you discover you made a dreadful mistake, then it is doubly difficult.
Lucy was in that position. She had been totally misled about her ex's so- called infidelity. She had simply believed her 'close' girlfriend when she told her that her ex had been sleeping around. She didn't bother to check out the information and went and dumped her ex without even confronting him with the situation.
Well, too late because Lucy later discovered that her so-called 'close' friend had been lying for some stupid jealous reasons. Well, she was dumped - that was the easy part but how could Lucy get her ex back now that she realised she was completely wrong and her actions were totally unjustified ?
Lucy called her ex and you can imagine the conversation. Not a happy one and full of recriminations on her ex's part who said that she could not even trust him and therefore it was all off!
Lucy had a problem but she knew that with a little bit of intelligence she could get her ex back. She apologised but she did it with a long letter - the phone was obviously off limits. She admitted her mistake and promised that she had learnt a very hard lesson and would never do that sort of thing again. She wrote about what they constructed together over the years and all the great times they had and she couldn't bear the thought of throwing all that away. She had behaved like that because she loved him and the the mere hint that another woman had taken her place had made her go off the rails.
Very sensibly, Lucy gave it some time and she waited patiently and resisted the urge to pester her ex with calls. She wanted to give him his space and of course time to think it over.
Finally they did meet and Lucy was her normal self - she did not apologise again because she thought that would be too negative. She did mention some of the great times they had and some marvellous places they had been to.
Lucy then planned a special treat for her ex and asked him along 'just as friends'. It was actually a famous orchestra from London who were giving a rather special concert and her ex was really into classical music. This was the best way Lucy could think of starting again and without crowding him.
It was a long process for Lucy because she was the one who had dumped her ex and had been totally in the wrong. She had to start to rebuild up the trust again.
Well, the story has a happy ending in that Lucy got back with her ex although it took a little time. Her ex was able to reflect calmly on the fact that Lucy was intensely jealous of him and she really did love him. In a way, it had been positive in that they both learnt from the experience and their relationship became a really strong one over time. In getting her ex back Lucy had planned everything very carefully and did not panic.
